Almost none of the hard parts of this app were written by us. Rendering text at sixty frames a second, encrypting a connection, keeping a list smooth while it loads images: all of that came from people who solved it properly and then gave it away.

The SIL Open Font License permits use, study, modification and redistribution, including in commercial products, provided the fonts are not sold on their own. The full text is in section 8.

5. Place names

GeoNames: geonames.org. Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). The names and positions of South Africa's towns, suburbs and villages behind a pro's service area: the base they travel from, the places their circle reaches, and the "Travels up to N km from" line wherever that base is named.

We use an extract of the GeoNames South Africa data, not the whole of it. We keep only populated places, merge entries that name the same place twice a few kilometres apart, and tag each place with its province and the larger town it is known by. The names and positions themselves are as GeoNames publishes them. GeoNames does not endorse ToolBox.

6. Icons

The icons in both apps are ToolBox's own set, drawn in-house. They, the ToolBox mark, the wordmark and the trade illustrations are our own work and are not covered by any of the licences here.

7. The Lottie format

Our animations use the Lottie format, created at Airbnb and released under the Apache License 2.0. Compottie is an independent implementation for Compose and is not affiliated with Airbnb.

9. Photography and illustration

Photographs of homes, tools and tradespeople in the Guides section are licensed for our use or are our own. Illustrations, the trade glyphs and the routing artwork are original work made for ToolBox.

If you believe an image here is yours and is being used without a licence, email legal@toolbox.africa with the screen it appears on and proof of ownership. We will take it down while we check, and we will not argue about it first.

10. Trade marks

ToolBox and the ToolBox mark are trade marks of ToolBox Group (Pty) Ltd. Android, Google Play and Firebase are trade marks of Google LLC. Apple, iOS and App Store are trade marks of Apple Inc. Every other name here belongs to its owner, and is used only to identify their work. None of these companies endorses ToolBox.

11. Keeping this honest

This list is maintained as the app changes. If a dependency is added and this page is not updated, that is a bug and we want to hear about it. A full machine-generated dependency and licence report is available on request at legal@toolbox.africa.
